The starter can be included if the switch of ranges is in situation "P" (parking) or "N" (neutral) (fig. 1.153).
In situation "P" (parking) of the switch of ranges forward wheels are mechanically blocked from rotation.

ATTENTION
Transfer of the lever of the switch of ranges to provisions "P" (parking), "N" (neutral) or "R" (backing) on the run of the car can lead to damage of transmission.
Transfer of the lever of the switch of ranges to situation "D" (movement) or "R" (backing) when the engine works at turns above idling, can lead to damage of transmission.

If the lever is in situation "R" (backing), transfer of a backing joins and the car can move back. It is necessary to switch on and off transfer of a backing only after a full stop of the car. The exception is made by exceptional cases when it is necessary to bring the car out of jamming by means of rocking.
In situation "N" (neutral) any of transfers to transmissions is not included, and forward wheels are disconnected from the engine. The car can freely slide even in the presence of a small bias of the road if the parking brake is not switched on or the brake pedal is not pressed.

NOTE
In order to avoid unexpected start-off of the car from the place turn on the parking brake or press a brake pedal before translating the lever of the switch of ranges from situation "N" (neutral).

Range "D" (movement) is intended for normal traffic conditions of the car. After start-off of the car from the place and in process of dispersal there is an automatic consecutive gear shifting – to the first on the fourth.
Situation "M" (switching in the manual mode) is intended for gear shifting manually. The driver can consistently switch transmission to the highest or lowest transfers, moving the lever to the relevant party.
